23rd December

day-23

In the depth of winter, while his wife and children are asleep, a man wakes up to hear strange noises outside his house. Looking out of the window, he spies, landing on the roof, St. Nicholas in a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer…Today’s reading is the well known Christmas favourite A Visit from St Nicholas. This poem was first published in 1823 and has influenced our ideas about St Nicholas and Christmas ever since its publication.

Hello from the CWS Library Resource Centre

November 24, 2008

The Librarians at Cardinal Wiseman have been working with a member of the ICT Staff and have organised an Advent podcast series. We have chosen 24 readings from books and poems and our final choice is from Luke’s Gospel.

We have copies of all these in stock and hope that people will be insipired to borrow (or buy from local bookshops) in order to read more.

We are passionate about reading for pleasure and aim to promote reading in many ways.

Happy listening!
